What is it that empowers you most?
What inspires me the most is the resilience and courage of my family, friends and community.
What is it that you love most about yourself?
I love that I have become awakened to my truth and can now live in it fully. I now know that I don't owe anyone an explanation for being who I am. I own who I am unapologetically.
What makes you feel most beautiful?
I feel the most beautiful when I am flowing and not forcing in life.
Who is your biggest role model and why?
My mother who is my matriarch. She is solid, observant, patient and loving. My aunt Connie who is another matriarch of mine. I have been fortunate enough to be raised by strong Anishnabe women.
Who are your favourite cultural heroines and why?
The queens of Soul. From Eryka Badu, Sade to Lauryn Hill. These women remained true to who they are in an industry that over sexualizes black women in the media. I salute you!
If you could pick one fictional female character to be for a day who would it be and why?
I would have to say Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I love reading, and she made reading and loving books elegant!
What is your biggest life goal?
Love. Compassion. Truth & Healing.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Writing my book Be Unapologetically You: A Self-Love Guide for Women, releasing August 2016. As well as starting and co-producing the Podcast Soul Unexpected that airs on iTunes and Stitcher Radio every Wednesday.

If you could tell your 12 year old self one thing what would it be?
I would tell myself, you are going places, you are built for greatness!
What does feminism mean to you?
Embracing my authentic self by using my voice to motivate and inspire my community through what I call scared activism.
