Jane Fonda was born in New York City to Canadian-born socialite Frances Ford Brokaw and actor Henry Fonda. Fonda has Dutch, English, Scottish and French ancestry. Fonda is an American actress, writer, producer, political activist, fitness guru and former fashion model.

Over the years she has been the recipient of many accolades including two Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, the AFI Life Achievement Award and the Honorary Golden Lion.

“Feminism is not just about women; it’s about letting all people lead fuller lives.”

As a teenager Fonda was interested in acting and her first appearance was alongside her father in a charity performance of The Country Girl at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Appearing in several movies and continuing to develop her talent propelled Fonda to stardom and she won her first Academy Award for Best Actress in 1971 for her role as Bree Daniels, in the Alan J. Pakula's murder mystery Klute.

Fonda has quite the resume but continues to pave the way for other women by creating roles for women of all ages. Her character Grace from the Netflix series Grace & Frankie is deliciously hilarious and her role as Vivian in Book Club is fierce and independent.
