What is it that empowers you most?
I am wildly empowered every year when I am working in Kenya on our Distribution Trips. Knowing that the hard work throughout the year is benefiting so many and that great change is being made in our programs.
What is it that you love most about yourself?
My passion. I have a passion for the work I do, I have a passion for people, and I have a passion for life! While I understand that it takes education, experience, professionalism, and determination to make things happen, they would never be accomplished whole-heartedly without PASSION!
What makes you feel most beautiful?
When I’m at my healthiest! When I have balance in life, take time for myself, get the sleep, exercise, and nutrition I need, it all refers back to making me feel good about myself. I am not a fan of artificial beauty, I do not like sacrificing ones health or natural self to “deem” yourself beautiful. When you can say you took care of yourself and you feel good, then you’ve done a damn good job at keeping yourself BEAUTIFUL!
Who is your biggest role model and why?
Biggest role model(s), my fam jam. I can’t choose just one. My father, the most good-hearted, strong, stern, loving man alive with so much integrity is seeps from his pores. My mother, the most caring, selfless person I know, always wanting to help, always being an ear to listen, and being a second mother to so many! My sister, the strongest femme I know. She’s been a role model to me forever and when she decided to let the world know that she was proudly gay, she did it with no turning back, with hurdles to jump over, and determination to reach happiness. She succeeded and I am unbelievably proud of the person she is! And my brother, the most positive hard working man I know. He will never sweat the small stuff, he will always find the good in everything, and he will bust his ass to accomplish whatever goal he sets out for himself. AGH I am getting so mushy gushy over my family right now, I just love them to pieces and can never get enough of them!!! #RossesAreBosses
Who are your favourite cultural heroines and why?
Favorite heroine will always be Mother Teresa. She was a selfless, caring, understanding, accepting, genuine individual whose sole purpose was to serve others. She sought out a life of poverty to ensure success in her “job”. Her life, her purpose, her soul is simply jaw-dropping. I could only hope to be a percent of how amazing an individual she was.
If you could pick one fictional female character to be for a day who would it be and why?
Dora the Explorer. Could you imagine having the ability to travel all over with just a small backpack and a monkey sidekick?! A-Mazing!
What is your biggest life goal?
Being able to work full-time on my charitable organization K.I.D.S. Initiative without compromising the fact that we ensure 100% of donations go directly to support our programs. I would fist pump so hard!!!
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Starting up K.I.D.S. Initiative, jumping through hurdles to make it happen, and remaining endlessly passionate about it. Our organization supports five core programs at a time until we can render them sustainable at which point we retire them and adopt a new one. We’ve already managed to render one of our programs sustainable. That was an amazing accomplishment, one that I would not have expected so early on! #HeartMeltsWhenIThinkOfIt
What is your favourite quote?
"The strongest principle in growth lies in human choice” – George Eliot
If you could tell your 12 year old self one thing what would it be?
Trust life’s timing, not yours.
What does feminism mean to you?
Ensuring our society exudes equality. While I think feminism can sometimes be given a bad rep, I personally view feminism as an opportunity for women to support other women in developing the confidence to strive for equality in every aspect of their lives!
