What is it that empowers you most?
I am empowered most by other successful, courageous women. When I meet women who are willing to love and connect with other women and share their stories of hardship, hurt and struggle and how they’ve risen above that and maintained their confidence – THIS empowers me!
What is it that you love most about yourself?
I love my ability to be transparent about my story and grow. I love that I am never resistant to people’s energies and that I can connect well with others.
What makes you feel most beautiful?
I feel most beautiful when I’m in warm climates and that sun hits my skin! LOL! Something about the heat and that sun laying itself all over my skin and setting into a deep tan just makes me feel overall happier and beautiful.
Who is your biggest role model and why?
My biggest role model is my mom. She has overcome so much abuse and negativity in her life and become such a strong, resilient, ambitious figure for me to aspire to be. Her discipline and consistency is something that I envy and I am still striving to match.
Who are your favourite cultural heroines and why?
Jada Pinkett Smith – I love her intelligence and spiritual connectivity. Her ability to connect with other women and give advice about what it means to be a woman and her reminders of always finding balance between loving and putting yourself first in order to properly take care of your family
Rihanna – her no fucks given attitude, oh and her fashion sense!
Tracee Ellis Ross – her quirkiness and how comfortable she is in her own skin. How she inspires her followers to just be themselves.
If you could pick one fictional female character to be for a day who would it be and why?
Definitely Storm from X-men! She was one of the first major black characters in comic book history and gave me someone to look up too! She could control the weather and just fuck shit up (for lack of a better explanation!) She carried herself with so much grace and confidence and when she dated Wolverine I was like “yasssss honey!” LOL
What is your biggest life goal?
I won’t give up on my dream to be completely self-employed, self-reliant, loving and open as a woman’s advocate, entrepreneur, wife and mother. I will work every day until I get to this point and will accomplish having my 20-hour maximum workweek with just my laptop, coaching and helping women. I pray that I die being known as a woman who was able to share her experiences to touch, love and help others grow.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
So far it is completing my book: Random Notes from a Broken Girl.
What is your favourite quote?
FLY – FIRST LOVE YOURSELF.
If you could tell your 12-year-old self one thing what would it be?
Not everything is your fault. Put yourself first when it comes to love and don’t rush into anything. Pay attention to the signs and speak up for yourself when shit goes wrong. Oh ya, and bring your ass to class, don’t let boys distract you into foolishness lol!
What does feminism mean to you?
To me, Feminism means owning your power. Feminism means standing up for yourself in all your grace and beauty. Feminism means believing in yourself and doing what you say.
